Rod would like a quieter environment where he can take life at his own pace.
Handsome Rod was very shy and nervous when he first arrived with us, but he is now starting to feel a lot more confident and is showing us his personality. Rod now meets our volunteers with a gentle wag of his tail and enjoys a gentle fuss, he is also quite partial to an ear rub! Rod also loves a treat and we think food is definitely one way to this boy’s heart. Rod is still mostly keeping his cheeky side to himself, but we know it’s in there when we see him learning to play with toys and carrying his bedding to exactly where he wants it! Rod is still learning that he doesn’t need to be at the front of the pack and can be a little strong on the lead, but he does tend to relax during his walks. Rod has encountered other breeds on his walks and so far has behaved really nicely. Rod hasn’t yet got the hang of getting into a car, but once he is in he settled quickly and travels well. PUPDATE Ever the eager learner, on a recent overnight stay in September, Rod learned a little more about what it’s like to live in a home. Although he had to be lifted into the car, he settled for the journey well. He is a little reluctant to show his true wonderful self, but shows no reactions with other dogs and was wonderfully calm in public spaces like the cafe and pub. Whilst on his sleepover, he went gently at his food, tending to graze, wanting rather to play with his squeaky toys. He was excellent in the house with no accidents at all, and was very interested in getting to grips with the garden and all the smells it holds. Are you able to give Rod the time and space to allow him to flourish into the wonderful companion he knows he can be? Rod hasn’t yet got the hang of getting into a car, but once he is in he settled quickly and travels well. If you can offer Rod a little time and patience we know you’ll be rewarded with the most loving companion.
