Elf - are you up for a challenge? We’re not going to lie, Elf has been our most difficult dog to home to date. He has now been with us almost 625 days and still very few people have come to see him. We are going to tell you about him warts and all and hope that you can see what we see in Elf and get him a home before Elf is on the shelf again this Christmas. Elf’s plus points are that he is adorable, cheeky, lovable and likes as much fuss as he can get. He’s intelligent, funny, lively…a bit 100mph…and nuts in the best of ways. Our volunteers love him and he makes them laugh so much….he just loves his humans. He is great in a home and can do stairs and not phased by household noises. He walks well on the lead and wags his entire rear end when he’s happy, loves to play with toys either with you or on his own and is partial to a puppacino. He is a champion sausage catcher and a pet blood bank hero, having donated many times. The downside - he is alert and either super excited or asleep, needs a lot of mental stimulation and unfortunately has developed a reactive fear of other dogs….mainly other breeds…. so tends to bark a lot when he sees them and especially dislikes having them too near. He knows his name and is responsive to treat based distractions so with persistence he could be trained to ignore them. Are you up for the challenge - can you provide him with: a daily brain workout a full on exercise regime or maybe a large secure garden training to reduce his anxiety around dogs (loves a treat) a home where there are no other animals a child-free home lots of love and cuddles love him for who he is Your reward a stunning hound a lovable rogue lots of love days of laughter the best dog ever…..
