A person with a greyhound

Hi friends, long time no sniff! It’s been some time since I updated you on my adventures to find my forever home. I have some pawsome news... I have been adopted!! I am beyond excited and can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Let's go back a few weeks and I’ll tell you what happened. Linda Biscuits and I went on the greyhound bus. I was enjoying head bopping to the music and the cool air con flapping my ears. Life was good... little did I know it was about to get even better!

Once we arrived, Linda Biscuits took me for a wander on the lead. All I could see was loads of brick buildings in rows together, these kennels were HUGE! I could smell so many new smells and there were loads of new things to pee up, it was all so exciting. After a few minutes we approached a door of one of the large kennels and I could hear a familiar voice... it was that ‘Mum’ lady who I'd met at the homing kennels a week or so ago.  The door opened and the whole family was there!

Linda Biscuits took me inside and took my lead off, I was free to roam the large kennel, which I found out this is now home. I stood by her while they all sat down to talk about the next few days and what to expect. At first, I was worried about where I could and couldn’t go, so I stayed close to Linda Biscuits. We all went out in the garden and I got to sniff some new smells. The little girl came up to me and gave me a pat on the head and introduced herself as Ava and her brother is called Danny. We played outside with a ball and I instantly felt a bit calmer as I now know they want the same from me as what’s expected at the kennels. Once we went inside, Linda Biscuits grabbed her stuff and gave me a cuddle before leaving.

Linda Biscuits left and everyone came up to me and began cuddling and stroking me, usually I would lap this up but right then I didn’t understand what was going on. I began to panic a little and backed away until the ‘Dad’ man said “I think Graham needs some space let’s allow him time to find his safe corner like Linda said”. I was so thankful for Linda’s wise advice!! They all walked away and carried on doing their own thing, I found a nice comfy dog bed in the corner and settled there and guess what... Ted was there too!!! I snuggled up to him as he smelt familiar.

I am learning all about home life here. Dad enjoys watching the telly box a lot in the evenings, one night I was watching the moving shapes and all of a sudden, my arch enemy was on the screen... Mr Cat! I launched into action and tried to chase him off the screen. I looked behind the telly box, I have no idea where he went, he must have known I was coming. The hoomans were laughing at me. I also love going outside for the toilet, Mum always hugs me and kisses me and sometimes I even get a biscuit just for going to the toilet outside... who knew earning a treat was so easy? The first couple of days I was unsure on where I could go to the toilet, because at the kennels I had a routine of when I went to the toilet in the paddocks and sometimes went in my kennel in an emergency. So, I was confused when I didn’t get a cuddle when I went in the kitchen, but I think I prefer going outside as I get more fuss.

When I was at the kennels I would have to wait for feeding times and treats would often be given to me from Linda Biscuits or Luke Sky-Barker... it’s even better here, as you can help yourself. One afternoon I could smell a packet of custard creams, so I went investigating. I am lucky my snout is the perfect height for the kitchen countertop, so I jumped up and bingo... they were on the side! These hoomans were so nice leaving them out for me, I grabbed them and took them to my bed and snacked away. It wasn’t nice having to chew the plastic, but the many custard creams later were so worth it! Dad said I wasn’t technically allowed to do that and I heard Linda biscuits on the small box giving them tips to ‘help me’... Linda Biscuits has taken the fun away from me!

Ava has so many cuddly toys and enjoys showing me her favourites. We play tea parties together and she often invites Ted to come along too. I try to help her by moving the toys myself, but she tells me only she can do that because the toys don’t want to get soggy. Which is weird, as I know Ted loves my licks. Ava was really kind to let me have her Mr Bunny teddy bear, so now I have Ted and Mr Bunny as my snuggle buddies. I really like Ava, we’re going to be best friends.

Anyways friends, I am really tired coz I have been zooming around the garden with Ava and Danny. I’m off to the sofa now to watch the moving pictures with Dad... let’s face it I will probably snooze with my feet in the air. I’m really loving home life, it’s all what Grace told me it would be. I really hope Grace is okay back at the kennels, I know her forever home will come soon enough. Speak soon, love and licks, Graham.
