A Pawfect Match - Romford Retired Greyhounds
Love is in the air at the Romford Retired Greyhound Kennels as we take a look at five of their beautiful greyhounds looking for a home this Valentine's.

Located in Essex, Romford Retired Greyhounds has lots of greyhound homing experience. The team began their story in 2006 when the kennels were known as Greyhound Trust Dunton but recently changed to an independent charity called Romford Retired Greyhounds. The volunteers here support local trainers to rehome their retired athletes. We’ve teamed up with them to shine the spotlight on five of their greyhounds for the Pawfect Match campaign.
Eddie
The first dog for Romford Retired Greyhounds is the stunning Eddie who is five years old and located at the kennels in Lakenheath in Suffolk. This Valentine’s sweetie is doing his best to attract a loving family to call his own and he has even dressed the part, complete with his very own heart shaped marking on his side! Eddie is a complete cuddle monster; he is very good on the lead and loves to be with people. He likes to explore on his walks and would suit all home types.
Blue
This beautiful small girl is called Blue and is only three years old. She needs a home urgently as she is currently in a foster home in North London. Blue is quite unsure of new things until she is familiar with her surroundings, so the team decided to place her in foster care to help build her confidence in a home environment. She has already gained more trust when out walking and around new people. She happily follows her foster parents around the home and will come to greet visitors to the house. She can still be easily startled, so a quieter home with no children under 16 would be ideal for Blue. She is also good with other dogs so a home environment with siblings would be suitable too.
Sherlock
If you’re looking for an investigator in gravy bones...Sherlock is your man! He is a very handsome black boy aged 4 and is in the kennels located at Lakenheath in Suffolk. Sherlock loves everyone and his tail never stops wagging. He adores cuddles and would love to find his forever home. Sherlock is very gentle and does not pull on the lead when walking; he would make just the most amazing family pet and he can live with another dog.
Sue
This gorgeous blue and white girl is the sweet Sue who is only four years old. Sue is really dainty and no trouble at all, she enjoys taking life at her own pace but isn’t very forthcoming. When visitors have come to view the greyhounds to adopt, Sue doesn’t tend to sell herself – she is quite happy enough snuggled on her bed. The team believe Sue would pair well in a home with a male greyhound but also could happily live on her own, as long as there are no cats!
Ian
Ian is a stunning brindle boy who has been at Romford Retired Greyhounds for over a year and would love to find a home! Ian is four years old and has a lot of love and happiness to bring into a home. Ian would be best suited with an experienced greyhound owner as he is quite strong on the lead and ideally be an only dog in the home with no cats. He needs to be paired with owners who are willing to invest the time in him in return for lots of love and cuddles, which he gives in abundance.
The team at Romford Retired Greyhounds puts the care of each greyhound first and it’s their priority to find each one a forever home that suits their needs. Each greyhound is different, meaning it doesn’t matter what type of home you come from, it may be a flat, boat, a bungalow or a house – the homing centres would still love to hear from you. If you can offer any of these greyhounds a home, please contact Romford Retired Greyhounds on 07852 734958 or email at [email protected] and they can help you from there.
