A person with a greyhound

Home Run Hounds became an independent charity in July 2024 and home retired racing greyhounds in the West Midlands. Combining both Claire’s and Tracey’s extensive greyhound knowledge, this charity has been able to find homes for many dogs already. Plus, the team at the Suffolk Branch based near Lakenheath are expanding their facilities to create more space for retired greyhounds. With how far this charity has come in such a short space of time, it only felt right that we helped continue their success by promoting five of their beautiful hounds looking for homes this Pawfect Match Campaign.

Ted

Ted is a handsome black male with an abundance of love and joy to give. Ted is four years old and enjoys being in the company of people and playing with them, especially doing zoomies in the garden. Ted has been for sleepovers at some of the Home Run Hounds foster families and they’ve said he is very clean in the house, walks well on the lead and is all-round fabulous! The team think Ted would be best suited in a home environment with older children and can live with other breeds but no cats He could happily be a dog on his own. It would also be beneficial if the perspective adopters are at home throughout the day as he does enjoy his tummy tickles and love.

Elf

It’s not Elf on the Shelf, but instead the gorgeous Elf from Home Run Hounds who’s just as cheeky as the Christmas figure! Elf is a four-year-old male who is adorable and mischievous with his cute ways. He’s been in the kennels for over a year now, on the search for his forever home. Elf often goes to foster families for sleep overs to experience home life. The families have said he is a pleasure to have, he is so happy and even wags his whole body when he sees someone, it makes everyone laugh. Elf is great fun, loves treats, and is very smart, so he’d be very receptive to training to help him accept other dogs in the world. Elf would be compatible in a cat free home and with a greyhound savvy owner to give him some direction and guidance and in return he’ll make you “laugh loads”.

Casper

Known as the kennel clown, this handsome white and fawn boy is six years old and has a whole lot of love to give. Casper enjoys bouncing around and does a cute tippy toe dance when he is super excited to get snuggles. When he goes on sleep overs the carers say he's a different boy to the kennels; he snoozes on his bed and is no trouble at all because he is getting that one-on-one attention in a home environment. At this moment in time, Casper is still under training with other breeds of dog and the team feel his owners would need to be experienced greyhound owners with no other dogs or cats and an adult household to ensure he gets the full training required. With assistance from Home Run Hounds, he will get there b ut it does require some time and patience.

Azza

Azza has been in the kennels on the search for a forever home for over a year now. The kennel staff have commented that he has started to become quite glum and stressed in kennels. Azza is a sensitive soul and, with the right people, he can be the most friendly and joyful dog to be around, but lately he's developed anxiety – especially around other dogs. Azza would need an adult only home with no cats or children and preferably with a greyhound enthusiast who will know how to work with his anxiety and socialisation, with the help from Home Run Hounds.

 Tim

This beautiful blue brindle boy is only five years old and comes across as a gentle giant. Tim is very docile and enjoys the little things in life such as going to the pub! His order may not be a pint of Guinness, but it certainly is a plate of sausages which the landlord happily lets Tim have when he visits. He also loves playing with his toys and will entertain himself for hours just by playing, he is such a cutie. Tim would suit a home environment with or without other dogs and with teenagers but no cats in the home.

The team at Home Run Hounds have put so much time and effort into each greyhound in their care, especially these special five looking for a home to call their own. Each with their own quirks and personalities, we really hope they find a family soon. If you would like to find out more about any of the dogs above, please contact Home Run Hounds on 07488 253 537 or email them at [email protected] and they can help you from there.
