From Search to Snuggles: Rob’s First Day with Tigger (Part 1)
A heartwarming story of how one search for a small dog led to adopting Tigger the greyhound. From rejected applications to an instant connection at Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust, this is the beginning of a special bond.

When Rob set out to adopt a dog, he thought he knew exactly what he was looking for: a small, easy-going companion to suit life in his flat. But after hitting a few unexpected roadblocks with adoption applications, things didn’t quite go to plan.
That all changed when he came across Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust and met a gentle, affectionate greyhound. Sometimes the right dog isn’t the one you set out to find, it’s the one who finds you. This is Part 1 of Rob and Tigger’s story, beginning with their very first day together:.jpeg)
Finding Tigger
"When I first decided I was going to adopt a dog, I was looking for a nice little Staffie because I live in quite a smallish flat without a proper garden. I tried various local & national dog charities & shelters without so much as a home visit. The closest were RSPCA who asked me to send some photos of the security fence around my flats. Apparently a 7ft spiked fence isn’t secure enough! I eventually came across an advert for Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust on Gumtree posted by Kev, and I thought well this might be just what I wanted! So, I contacted Kev & arranged for him to visit my flat. After explaining more about the greyhounds and what I could expect he told me he’d talk to the other staff back at the kennels to pick a couple of greys for me to meet. A week or so later I was invited to the Boston kennels to meet 2 greys, that was all I knew until I arrived & the first beautiful greyhound was my adorable Tigger. He came straight up to the bars of his kennel and squashed himself against them so I could stroke him. I crouched down to say hello & I was smitten; Tigger was coming home with me. I took him for a short walk where he was next to me the whole time & had a pee. I told Kev that Tigger was the one & because it was 5th November we arranged for Tigger to be dropped off at mine during the next week when the fireworks were over..jpeg)
Bringing Him Home
Tigger was dropped off the following Tuesday and once I had signed all the paperwork it was Tigger + I alone in the flat. He had an explore and found his feeding station with food & water and gave them a try after his long journey. I let him find his bearings before he came over to me to tell me he needed to go for a wee so I put his collar & lead on, and took him to have a look around his neighbourhood. It wasn’t meant to be a long walk but we ended up on the common a few hundred yards away so I let him go wherever he wanted to. After doing a circuit of the whole common we bumped into one of my friends and Tigger went straight up to her for cuddles and fuss. He’s so adorable & friendly and I knew straight away how special my gorgeous little fur baby was. After we left the common, we walked into town and I took him to the pub I was drinking in, where he stretched out in the sun in the garden next to me.
This is just the start to our story and there’s more to follow shortly so watch this space!".jpeg)
