A person with a greyhound

Genie (Da Good Genes) has been in her new home for a few months now and it was a match made to be! It all started when Jo reached out to GREYS in Cambridge via the Greyhound Homing UK Adoption Platform, initially enquiring about a lovely, laid-back lad named Roy. After a good chat over the phone, it was clear Roy sounded like a great choice for a first-time greyhound owner. The team at GREYS arranged for Jo to visit the kennels and meet him in person.

True to form, Roy was his usual happy, gentle and sociable self. Jo took him for a stroll through the woods, and while she was ready to keep walking, Roy had other ideas—he couldn’t wait to get back to his bed for a snooze! That moment made it clear: Roy was after a peaceful, easy life filled with naps and quiet comforts, whereas Jo was looking for a companion with a little more spark.

That’s when Kelli suggested she meet Genie. Just as kind and friendly as Roy, Genie brought a bit more energy to the table—the "sportier model," as they like to say! Jo was instantly taken with her. They spent some time together in the paddock, and it was clear there was a connection. Kelli arranged for Jo to return the next day to take Genie for a proper walk.

The next day, both Jo and Genie came back full of smiles—it was obvious they’d found the perfect match.

Since Jo lived a bit farther away, Kelli arranged to bring Genie along for the home check. Everything went smoothly, and Genie stayed that very day to begin her new life.

Jo has sent Kelli these lovely updates:

"We've just got back from a lovely walk. She made loads of new human friends at the garden centre. I think she's going to be a local celebrity! Everyone was so impressed with her. I've adopted an angel, not a dog 😄. She's so good and settled right in."

"It's going really well, thank you. She doesn't stop amazing me. She hasn't put a paw wrong."

"She's a special dog, I can tell that already! I'm very lucky 😊. Thank you."

It’s always wonderful to see a perfect match come together—and with Jo and Genie, it truly was meant to be. 💜
