Syd and Doris: Bonded Greyhounds Find Perfect Home Together

You may remember Albert from our Adoption Platform. Well, we're delighted to announce he's found his forever home! Albert (now Syd) and his kennel mate Jessie (now Doris) found their forever home together on the 22nd of May 2025, having shared an incredible bond during their time at Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue in Essex.

The Perfect Match for Bonded Greyhounds

It all began when Wanda came forward looking to adopt a pair of greyhounds. The connection between Wanda, Syd, and Doris was instant- it was clear from the very beginning that they were meant to be together. Syd and Doris had been overlooked at the kennels due to their higher prey drive, but their story is a beautiful reminder that with the right home, patience, and love, even the most overlooked dogs can truly thrive.

Seven Weeks Later: Life with Bonded Greyhounds

Wanda kindly shared an update on life with her two wonderful companions: 

“Syd and Doris have been with us for seven weeks now, and we are totally in love with them. Syd is a confident, laid-back boy. When he’s not snuggled up on the sofa with us, his favourite pastime is trotting around the garden with one of his soft toys. He’ll then come back inside, swap it for another, and repeat the process until each toy has had its turn exploring the outdoors! 

Doris is still a little unsure of herself indoors but is gaining confidence every day. On her first day home, she wouldn't go into the kitchen to eat her dinner, so I gently put a lead on and walked her there. She ate happily, and I hoped she'd remember where dinner is served, but now it's become a routine!

At every mealtime, she waits patiently until I pop the lead over her head, and then she happily walks to the kitchen to eat. She loves her walks, and her favourite time is splashing about in the dog pool at the field where they run."

Retired Greyhounds Find Forever Home

We couldn't be happier for this trio and are so grateful to Wanda for giving Syd and Doris the loving home they deserved. It's always wonderful to see a perfect match come together and with Wanda, Syd and Doris, it truly was meant to be. Thank you to Wanda and Clarks Farm for sharing their story!
